at the base and slimmer on top?

Where are good places to live that are near mountains and on the beach with good surf that are located outside of big cities but are still close to a big city?

why are there more conifer cones growing at the tops of trees?
A lot of cones are being produced at the top of the trees and making them lean over, is it caused by a change in the enviroment?

I am moving to the mountain home area and don’t really know much about it. All I really know is there is alot of trees and its beautiful. One problem. I have 3 kids and dogs and need all the stats from the area asap. Can anybody help??
