Conifer, Colorado started as a stop for stagecoaches between Denver and the gold fields of the South Park Basin back in the 1860s. It was then known as Bradford Junction back in the days. A few buildings were constructed for the community during those days ñ and among those were a general store, a rest house and a tavern. Bradford Junction eventually deteriorated in the 1890s when stagecoaches were replaced by railroad services. By that time, Bradford Junction then became Conifer Junction, an area now known for its abundance in wildlife and its wonderful mountain scenery.
Situated right in Pike Natural Forest, Conifer is a wonderful rural area with scenic views of the mountains. But because it is situated thirty five minutes southwest of Denver, one doesn’t have to give up the big city amenities such as shopping, sports and great dining experiences.
Conifer is 60 miles away from the Rocky Mountain National Park and is just 45 miles away from the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. The ranch also has lodges and cabins for those who want to spend the night.

Conifer has seven registered historic places or structures that date back to the late 1800s and these include the Clifton House Inn, the Midway House and Lubin ñ Blakeslee Place at Meyers Ranch, The Original Elk Creek Fire House, Pleasant Park School, the Conley Coffee Shop and the Yellow Barn.
According to the latest estimates, there are about 13,000 people living in Conifer, and about 2,300 houses in the town’s 114 square miles.
